Trump says he's worth US$8 billion (NZ$11.2b), although Forbes magazine says that's closer to US$3.7 billion.

In a sign that Trump might be getting closer to some decisions, his spokesman Jason Miller said Trump would meet Vice President-elect Mike Pence, who is in charge of Trump's transition effort, at Trump Tower in NY on Tuesday.

The president-elect has not yet announced who he intends to nominate to be secretary of defense.

A person familiar with the transition efforts said different factions in Trump's team "are fighting for power". Cohen opposed Trump during the campaign, but in recent days, he said those who feel duty-bound to work in a Trump administration should do so.

While the election of Donald Trump in the 2016 USA presidential election surprised many people, others are even more. He said an independent counsel should be appointed if the president-elect decides to prosecute Hillary Clinton - a promise Trump had made during the campaign.

Republican Donald Trump instead shocked the world with his victory.

He discussed the fight against ISIS and Mideast peace in addition to USA relations with Russian Federation, which he said is not a military threat, and China, which he said Trump will seek to engage on trade.

Trump and Pence will "be reviewing a number of names" for cabinet positions, Jason Miller, a transition communications adviser, told reporters gathered at Trump Tower.

When #Donald Trump made a decision to run for president, not many people gave him a realistic shot at success. The move amounted to a demotion for New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who had been running the operations for months.

Giuliani, 72, would be an out-of-box choice to serve as secretary of State.

And Pete Hoekstra, a long-serving former congressman from MI who chaired the House Intelligence Committee from 2004-2007 is thought to be in the running for the same role or director of the CIA.

Rudy Giuliani, one of Donald Trump's most reliable surrogates, says protesters around the nation are exaggerating the fear of a Trump presidency.

Rudy Giuliani, former New York City mayor, and John Bolton, former ambassador to United Nations, have emerged as leading contenders for the position of president-elect Donald Trump's top diplomat as his secretary of state. "We have to get everybody together and and we have to lead for a change", he added.

This article has been updated to include Trump's "60 Minutes" appearance. New Mexico Gov. Susanna Martinez, for example, did not endorse Trump but congratulated him after his win.

"For some reason, when the law was written, the president was exempt", said Giuliani, an attorney who also served years ago with the US Justice Department.

The outgoing president encouraged Trump, however, to embrace a unifying tone.

But Stoltenberg said North Atlantic Treaty Organisation "will never accept the violation of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine and that is why we have responded as we have to the Russian aggression". But he seemed to deviate from Trump on relations with Vladimir Putin, for whom Trump has repeatedly expressed admiration. Asked about Bannon's appointment, Ryan said, "I would just simply say the president will be judged on results".

"This man didn't want to run for president to try to get rich, he's rich already", Giuliani said. But she said any such "inquiries remain very informal".

On the campaign trail Trump said that, if elected, he would turn over his business interests to his children. The current leader of the State Department is John Kerry.

One of the memes includes a picture of Biden clutching Obama's hand in the Oval Office.

For his part, Trump told "60 Minutes" that Americans are demonstrating against him "only because they don't know me" and that he was "surprised" to hear about the dramatic uptick in racist and violent incidents in the past week. Before that process can resume, White House officials said, Pence must sign the same agreement. Another meme shows Biden looking at a computer, musing how he can throw everyone off "the White House Netflix account".

Other names also in the mix are Newt Gingrich, former Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin, John Bolton, Richard Haass and Senators Bob Corker and Jeff Sessions.

"That organization right now is not created to work", according to the person close to the efforts, who like others involved in the transition, insisted on anonymity because they were not authorized to publicly discuss the internal process.

Mr Trump was also considering on Monday whether to inject new diversity into the GOP by recommending a woman to lead the Republican Party and an openly gay man to represent the United States at the United Nations.

During his own run for the presidency in 2008, Giuliani espoused a fairly conventional Republican foreign policy view, calling on continued U.S. engagement overseas and robust efforts to fight terrorism and stabilize Iraq and Afghanistan.
