Ricky Rubio set to return for the Timberwolves

The Minnesota Timberwolves' Spanish point guard Ricky Rubio practiced Friday and appears close to returning to National Basketball Association action after missing five games with a sprained right elbow.

"As long as he feels pretty good tomorrow", Thibodeau said of Rubio's prospects of playing after practice on Saturday, per AP. Rookie Kris Dunn has started and second-year pro Tyus Jones has been the primary backup.

Entering the 2016-17 campaign, Rubio's future with Minnesota was in doubt as trade rumors swirled prior to opening night. Rubio should be scooped if he hit any waivers.

It was a slow start to the season for Rubio prior to the injury, who had taken just nine shots in the team's first two games despite exceeding 60 minutes played. He now owns a -0.1 nERD.

The Minnesota Timberwolves hope to build off their first road victory when they begin a four-game homestand against the red-hot Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday night.

Thibodeau said Rubio's intensity and intelligence were among the things that have been missed during his absence.

"Just the way he can push the ball, his decision-making, team defense, he's all over the place", Thibodeau said. Stay tuned. Right now, Rubio is officially listed as questionable. "In transition he's such a good decision-maker, he gets you a lot of easy baskets".
