Albright: I'm 'Ready To Register As Muslim' To Fight Trump

Trump also floated a so-called "Muslim registry" in the past, though it is unclear if he plans to rope that in with the immigration suspension or enact it at all.

'I was raised Catholic, became Episcopalian & found out later my family was Jewish.

"I stand ready to register as Muslim in #solidarity". As of this article's publication, the tweet has more than 46,000 likes and more than 20,000 retweets.

Trump unveiled this week a plan to stop accepting Syrian refugees and suspend the issuing of visas for Muslims from Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria or Yemen for at least 30 days.

Mr. Trump's argument, as stated on the campaign trail prior to his Election Day victory, is that not all refugees from unsafe regions want liberty as laid out by the Declaration of Independence and codified into law by the U.S. Constitution.

On Wednesday, "Big Bang Theory" star Mayim Bialik also tweeted in protest to a potential executive order, "I'm Jewish".

Their tweets echo feminist icon Gloria Steinem who said during a speech at last Saturday's Women's March: "If you force Muslims to register, we will all register as Muslims".

Albright's tweets came in response to news of a draft executive order that would ban refugee admissions for up to four months.

Albright added that, "America must move forward, but we can not let our voices be silenced along the way".

"There is no fine print on the Statue of Liberty", Albright wrote.

Albright, who was the first ever female Secretary of State, added that America should remain open to people of different faiths and backgrounds.
