'Beauty and the Beast' not shelved, but fate still in limbo

The film stars Emma Watson and Dan Stevens as the titular characters, supported by an all-star cast including Sir Ian McKellen, Ewan McGregor, Emma Thompson, Stanley Tucci and Kevin Kline.

Condon thinks that anyone who saw the 26-year-old cartoon version of "Beauty and the Beast" should have known that LeFou was infatuated with Gaston.

Referring to a cinema in Alabama that has cancelled the film over a gay character, he said: "And I think if you live anywhere near Alabama, you should not go and see this film".

She said it was a big commitment, one that would need her devotion and left her having to choose between the two films. According to director Bill Condon, the villain Gaston's sidekick LeFrou "is confused about his sexuality". Come on I mean it is in the storyline so you don't do that if it's there. "It's 2017, for f-k's sake".

The British actor, who plays Cogsworth in the live-action Disney film, mentioned the controversy at the New York City premiere.

Beauty and the Beast is the first Disney movie to ever feature a character who is gay, and that has a lot of religious groups calling for a boycott of the film.

As such, Nazri opined that a film should not be banned due a homosexual character in it despite homosexual acts being banned in the country. The way the story is being reported in some quarters seems to suggest that LeFou and Gaston enjoy a prolonged period of bed athletics. No explanation was given and there was no indication when the film will be released.

The actress told Entertainment Weekly during Friday's SiriusXM Town Hall about the rumors of her possible involvement with Damien Chazelle's Academy Award-nominated film.

Beauty and the Beast will be released in theaters on March 17. "I love the ambiguity there". For his part, Gad told USA Today that "there was nothing in the script that said 'LeFou is gay'".
