Spurs lose Parker for the season

With Tony Parker on the shelf, the Spurs are likely to up Leonard's usage rate (he ranked 12th in usage this season), and that's enough for me with the Spurs understanding that they need to win at least one of these games in Houston.

"It's not good", Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said when asked after the game about the severity of Parker's injury. The injury will likely require surgery to fix, meaning the Spurs will have to go through the rest of the postseason without their floor leader. Leonard was the main reason Harden had the worst playoff performance of his career, scoring just 13 points on 3-for-17 shooting and reaching the foul line just twice as San Antonio evened the series with a 121-96 Game 2 victory Wednesday night.

"It's hard to see him limping and hurting now, and you kind of know we're not going to see him any time soon", Ginobili said.

Bettors were already leaning towards the Rockets in the series, but their position appears to have intensified with Spurs point guard Tony Parker going down with a torn quadriceps tendon in game 2.

He drove into the lane for a short jump shot with just under 9 minutes left Wednesday night and grabbed at his left knee after landing.

Parker suffered the injury during Wednesday's Game 2 win over the Houston Rockets.

Popovich said after the game that it didn't look good, and the Spurs' fears were confirmed after an MRI on Thursday.

"A timeline for Parker's return will be determined at a later date", the Spurs said.

It is unclear who will start at the point guard position in Game 3 with backup Mills and rookie Murray having started for Parker during the 19 games he missed in the regular season.

The Spurs were playing in the postseason without Parker for the first time since 2001, ending an National Basketball Association record of 221 straight playoff appearances for the Frenchman.

Parker's team meanwhile were looking ahead to life without the guard as they prepared for Game 3 of their series against Houston later Friday.

Harden won't be slowed forever, but Leonard has the best chance of limiting him. That's it. Twelve damn points (plus-eight for San Antonio) separated the two teams through 184 minutes played between the division rivals.

The Spurs are above any one player - the team dynamic ensures that.

Ginobili also mentioned that San Antonio could utilize rotations without a true point guard. He is shooting just 30 percent from the field, including 29 percent from 3-point floor.
