Agent of Jaap Stam rules out Leeds United job

The former Netherlands global guided Reading to the Championship play-offs last season at the expense of Leeds United, which has led to attention from other clubs.

GARRY MONK today revealed Steve Gibson's vision convinced him to take charge of relegated Middlesbrough.

"I wanted the right challenge and all the boxes were ticked at Middlesbrough".

The former Swansea City and Leeds United boss, who joined the club on an undisclosed contract as manager, rather than head coach, said he was as ambitious as the owner.

He left the club following a takeover by Italian Andrea Radrizzani, and claims the new ownership model and structure of the club is the reason why he chose to depart.

"Garry will be officially unveiled at a media conference on Monday".

"I talked to the new ownership about what the new process would be and I thought it would carry on but for whatever reason it didn't work out".

However, with interest building in a number of players, the new boss might decide it is better to move some people on rather than force them to remain in the Championship.

Hull have appointed former Russian Federation boss Leonid Slutsky as their new head coach.

"I have signed for three years but ideally, I want promotion at the first attempt".

There has also been plenty of speculation surrounding the future of captain Ben Gibson - who is now on global duty with England - with several Premier League clubs reportedly interested in the central defender. "Once I spoke to Steve it was very clear that was the right club for me". "If a big club in the Premier League knocks it might be a different story", said Timmer.

An announcement on Monk's backroom staff is set to be made later in the week.
