Report Of Multiple Casualties In Incident On London Bridge

One witness told foreign news agency that she saw what appeared to be three people with knife wounds and possibly their throats cut.A witness told the BBC she saw a speeding white van veering into pedestrians.

A witness said they were in the front of Elliot's Cafe when a large group of people started running up the street from Borough Market. "Armed officers responded and shots have been fired", Metropolitan police said in a statement on twitter.

They are also at an incident in the Vauxhall area.

Nick Brandon of British Transport Police said the force had received reports of "multiple" casualties.

London's transport authority said London Bridge rail station had been closed at the request of the police.

People run down Borough High Street as police are dealing with a "major incident" at London Bridge in London.

Scotland Yard said in a series of tweets: "From 10.08pm, officers responded to reports of a vehicle in collision with pedestrians on London Bridge".

BBC reporter Holly Jones was at the bridge when the van came through and reported the van veered off the road and into crowds of people. He thought the person had been drinking, but then police vans flew by. "All Americans stand in solidarity with the people of the United Kingdom", she said.

Reports say more than a dozen people were injured.

The seriousness of the injuries is not yet known, he said. He estimated 100 people were on the bridge at the time, fewer than earlier in the night because it was getting late.

Witnesses reported seeing injured people on the ground on the bridge.

Police say the incidents occurred on the bridge and at Borough Market a short distance away. "I don't know what to do". The witness said the van hit five to six people.

Vowls said he was throwing chairs, glasses and bottles at the attackers in a bid to stop them.

Medics treated people lying injured on the ground near the market as shocked people cried and shouted around them.

The Sun newspaper, whose offices are beside London Bridge, reported hearing explosions about three hours after the attacks began. Witnesses also reported seeing people being stabbed by at least one man. But these last two to three months, we had two confirmed terrorist attacks, 22 people dying up in Manchester at the concert.

MARTIN: And, Frank, we only have a little bit less than a minute left, but this is all coming just a month after three people were killed near Parliament there in London when a vehicle ran over victims.

A concert in honour of the Manchester victims is due to take place on Sunday evening.
