Bournemouth sign Chelsea's Nathan Ake in club-record deal

Ake scored three goals in 12 appearances for Bournemouth last season before being recalled in January by Chelsea, where he featured sporadically as Antonio Conte's side won the Premier League title and reached the FA Cup final.

The Guardian claim that the 22-year-old is expected to pen a five-year-contract with the Cherries this week.

Bournemouth have confirmed the signing of Nathan Ake from Chelsea, revealing that they have paid a club record fee for the defender.

The 22-year-old central defender - who is Bournemouth's third signing of the close season following those of Bosnian global goalkeeper Asmir Begovic and veteran England striker Jermain Defoe - shone for the "Cherries" when on loan from Chelsea last season.

Chelsea have been linked with a host of players this summer, but the Blues have so far not been able to confirm the signing of any new stars.

He has been capped by the Netherlands at U15, U16, U17, U19, U21 and senior levels.

England striker Jermain Defoe signed on Thursday from Sunderland and Bosnia goalkeeper Asmir Begovic arrived from Chelsea in May.

"I had a great time last season so I'm really happy to be back", said Ake.

Ake is already full Netherlands worldwide and played in Chelsea's FA Cup semi-final win over Tottenham last season. One of his previous loan spells includes a year with Watford, where he was voted Young Player of The Season by the fans for his performances.

'He has a very bright future ahead of him and I'm very pleased to say that future is here'.
