Celtics' Jaylen Brown Named To NBA's All-Rookie Second Team

Joining Embiid, Saric and Brogdon on the All-Rookie First-Team are Kings guard Buddy Hield and Knicks big man Willy Hernangomez. He would later on average 10.2 points per game, 0.2 blocks per game, 1.1 steals per game, 4.2 assists per game, and 2.8 rebounds per game while shooting 45.7% from the field and 40.4% from beyond the arc. Brogdon followed another dominant center - Ralph Sampson - in becoming the second Virginia Cavaliers player to be named National Basketball Association rookie of the year.

Despite Embiid's social media campaign to get either Saric or himself the top rookie award, Brogdon finished 166 media voting points ahead of the second placed finisher. He played in just 31 games due to injury, averaging 20.2 points and 7.8 rebounds per game in 25.4 minutes of action per night. I want to say thank you to my Bucks owners, the whole Bucks organization, Coach Kidd, and my teammates, you know, they've believed in me, they've given me tremendous opportunity and it's been a great year.

Brogdon played in 75 games this season, starting in 28, helping the Bucks reach the postseason.

Former Virginia standout Malcolm Brogdon is the NBA's Rookie of the Year.

Like Embiid, Saric was drafted in the first round and called this past season his rookie year. The voting panel each selected five players for the first team and five players for the second team, regardless of position.

Prior to Monday's NBA Awards show, the league announced its All-Rookie and All-Defense teams. The award is for the rookie who had the best year, as in a full season. He also ranked third in field-goal percentage (.457) and fourth in points per game (10.2) among first-year players.

"I just think it's an important message for people to see". He scored in double-figures in his first 15 career games and in 30 of his 31 games overall.

The second team was Denver's Jamal Murray, Boston's Jaylen Brown, the Suns' Marquese Chriss, Lakers guard Brandon Ingram and Dallas guard Yogi Ferrell.

On Sunday, the 2005-06 Greece team - European champions in 2005 and runners-up to Spain at the 2006 Worlds - played a side which included brothers Giannis and Thanassis Antetokounmpo, and American Euroleague star Kyle Hines.
