Explosion confirmed at USAF Recruiting Center in Oklahoma

Bixby, Okla. - The FBI and other federal authorities are investigating a pipe bombing that took place Monday night near an Air Force recruiting office in Bixby, Oklahoma.

The door of the center was blown off in the blast and landed in a parking space in front of the storefront and soot-covered windows.

However a spokesman for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Explosives has confirmed the incident is being treated as a potential act of domestic terrorism.

The center was closed at the time.

A former national guardsman has been arrested for laying an explosion outside a US Air Force recruitment center in Oklahoma.

A witness to the Tulsa area Air Force recruiting center bombing said an individual on a motorcycle was in the area just before the attack.

The Tulsa World reports that a pipe bomb caused the explosion. The individual or individuals involved in the incident vandalized the building and slashed tires of vehicles at the center. "But it's quite ironic that that happened".

Federal Bureau of Investigation agent Jessi Rice said Tuesday that a person of interest had been taken into custody at a Tulsa- area apartment complex, but she said she couldn't provide the individual's name and that investigators were questioning the person.

Davis said law enforcement now does not know what caused the explosion and does not have any information on suspects.

"It's a little bit comforting that they didn't want to kill anybody", FBI Special Agent Jessi Rice said at a press conference. "The reason they did it at night probably shows that they wanted to hide". "Roden blamed the U.S. Air Force for preventing him from being accepted by the U.S. Marines". Law enforcement agents are reportedly following up on the potential lead.

Benjamin Rhoden has been identified only as a "person of interest" and it is not clear if charges will be filed Tuesday.

"It's a two-pronged investigation", she said.

The FBI did not respond to a request for information.
