India win Galle Test by 304 Runs

Virat Kohli went to his seventeenth Test century as India set Sri Lanka a target of 550 to win before bowling the hosts out for 245 to record a 304 run win.

Chasing 550 to win, Sri Lanka opener Upul Tharanga was clean bowled by Mohammed Shami for 10 runs, while Gunathilaka was removed by Umesh Yadav for just two runs. "And we've just gone out there and focused on the game and that's all you think of doing and that's all that we're going to do in the future", said Kohli as a matter of fact.

Speaking about his performance in the first innings, Pujara rated his hundred against Sri Lanka at Colombo during the 2015 tour above his recent 12th century at Galle. But he survived and eventually settled, and Sri Lanka could breathe a little easier, particularly with Karunaratne looking calm and secure at the other end, taking the singles afforded him by Virat Kohli's puzzlingly defensive fields and picking up the odd boundary with the square-cut or flick. First, Rohit Sharma posted a picture of an intense Federation Internationale de Football Association session with his teammates and then it was the turn of Indian skipper Virat Kohli, who took to micro-blogging site Twitter and shared pictures of him and opener KL Rahul relaxing by the pool.

Kohli remained unbeaten on 103 off 136 deliveries inclusive of five fours and a six while forming a partnership of 133 runs for the third wicket with overnight batsman Abhinav Mukund. Shikhar Dhawan got out playing a lazy shot while Cheteshwar Pujara was forced to flick the red cherry straight to a smartly placed leg gully.

Sticking to the theme of positives, Herath lauded the efforts of Nuwan Pradeep, who took 6 for 132 in India's first-innings 600.

The casualness shared between team India players is indeed loved by fans. Kohli described the win as "more special" since the pitch did not offer much to the bowlers. Indian skipper Virat on his social media handle, Twitter posted pictures with opener KL Rahul. "If I am part of the team, not part of the team, again, I will try to do my best wherever I am", said Mukund.

"Getting 600 runs it always affects which is a hard thing, but our batsmen on that track I don't think they handled it well because it wasn't a track to get 291 in the first innings".

"I couldn't. I couldn't go and ask him (Shastri)".

Sri Lanka added 135 in the morning session at a healthy run-rate but lost three vital wickets in the process.

"We need to improve in all three departments", Rangana Herath said. "Kohli said that he couldn't believe that I am 81, I said that I am just two days younger than Sir Garry Sobers", added Percy.
