Dodgers rally, take Darvish off hook

In the Japanese righty's first two outings for L.A., he went 2-0, struck out 10 batters in each game and allowed eight hits and two earned runs combined.

I barely want to even write an editorial here in Say Hey, Baseball about the Dodgers being 50 games over.500 on August 16.

Hernandez led off the fourth inning with a home run off Rodon to left-center field, tying the game at 2. The rookie also extended his streak of reaching base to 13 games. Tanner Roark allowed four hits in seven innings for Washington, but was done in by the two home runs.

Darvish would go on to record his only two strikeouts of the game, to end the inning, but still finished with the lowest strikeout total of his career.

Marcus Stroman pitched 6 1/3 innings, Steve Pearce homered and scored twice and the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Tampa Bay Rays 3-2.

Darvish got a no-decision after pitching six innings and leaving with Chicago up 3-2.

"I never felt comfortable with a two-run lead against the Dodgers", Chicago manager Rick Renteria said.

The Dodgers are long overdue for a World Series appearance.

Another newly acquired pitcher at the trade deadline, left-hander Tony Watson, served up a solo shot to Delmonico in the top of the eighth inning, giving Delmonico the first career multi-homer game of his young career.

After that, the home team blew it open as Austin Barnes and Corey Seager each had a two-RBI single in the inning to keep the White Sox from another upset of one of baseball's best team.

Trailing 4-2 in the bottom of the ninth, the Dodgers rallied against three different White Sox relievers to cap off their latest dramatic come from behind victory.

The Dodgers are still on pace to finish with 115 wins, just one shy of the record for the majors.

Dodgers: Kershaw (back) will throw three innings or 45 pitches in either a simulated game or a minor league rehab game on Monday. Rich Hill gets the call in the opener on Friday opposite RHP Jordan Zimmerman. Tim Anderson homered on the first pitch from Los Angeles starter Alex Wood on Tuesday.
