Gamescom 2017: 'PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds' to be Published by Microsoft

Game Informer has been able to interrogate Microsoft on the issue, also receiving a vague assertion: "As we announced at E3, "PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS" will be a console launch exclusive on Xbox One and right now, the development team is exclusively focused on bringing the best game possible on Xbox One and PC".

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has so many players it's even beating Valve's own games on Steam's concurrent user charts.

Bluehole Inc. has unveiled a first "aerial" look at its new desert map that's making its way into its smash-hit PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds in the coming months, with the new map being based on the South American country of Peru. Back at E3, Microsoft said PUBG will be released on Xbox One as a "console launch exclusive", and that wording suggests it may not be permanently exclusive to Xbox One.

PUBG Sounds Like It May Not Be Xbox One-Exclusive Forever
PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds Xbox One's exclusivity is not yet clarified, might come to PS4 in the future

This is one wonderful accomplishment for a game that was listed only 5 months ago as early access on steam (we can only imagine how much more it's going to sell when it's out of early access). Despite reports that PUBG may in fact come to PS4, this new deal may point to Xbox One console exclusivity for the last-man-standing shooter. "This partnership with Microsoft will accelerate the development and delivery of PUBG to console players around the world as we utilize their vast resources and impressive technical, sales and marketing expertise".

This news comes alongside more exciting information for Xbox owners who have envied their PC counterparts' access to the game on Steam. A year later, the game then appeared on PlayStation 4. That said, we still haven't seen an exact release date for the game yet and the year is passing by fast.
