Only 1 flag flying at Six Flags now

Just a day after it was Six Flags Over Texas declared they would continue flying the flag of the Confederacy at their amusement park, they've apparently had a change of heart.

Six Flags Over Texas removes all Confederate flags, replaced all others with American flags. "As such, we have changed the flag displays in our park to feature American flags", a Six Flags spokesperson told NBC 5 Friday.

Officials said in a statement Friday that only USA flags will now be featured.

The Confederate flag will no longer wave at Six Flags Over Texas.

"When Six Flags Over Texas was being planned during the Eisenhower administration, the founders settled on six themed areas and made a decision to use the historic fact of the flags of six nations that had flown over Texas as the basis of the themed areas", Parker said.

According to the Star-Telegram, flags are only flown at the Arlington, San Antonio and Georgia locations of the park. Her reasoning was that their flag was the original Confederate flag, not the second, more recognizable version that's become synonymous with white supremacy.

ARLINGTON-Six Flags is filled with tradition. And Six Flags has diluted or abandoned historic land theming in its parks over the past generation, with theming pretty much limited to those areas and attractions devoted to its DC Comics and other licensed franchises.

A group of protesters gathered to protest the removal of a Robert E. Lee statue from Charlottesville, but the rally ended with a self-proclaimed white supremacist allegedly plowing his auto into a crowd of counter-protesters and killing one woman.
