Google launches "Tez" Payment Application in India

Google has also enabled merchants to use the Tez platform to receive payments directly through the app but promised only businesses that consumers transact with will be able to use the feature and there will be "no spamming".

Developing economies like India have more potential of adopting mobile based digital payments.

"Tez" allows the users to connect their bank accounts with the application in few simple steps.

Although there are a number of other UPI-based apps in India right now, Google is offering several new features in Tez, including "proximity" transactions that allow people to carry out "cash" transactions without revealing their phone number or bank account. This is the Government's service to integrate banks to such applications.

Tez will not be an e-wallet like PayTM. With Tez, you can transfer money directly to your bank account. The app works smartly and you can easily start using this service through your bank accounts. Other networks such as Dominos, RedBus, JetAirways. Though, it will be the tough competition for Google Tez with the number of payment services already available in the market. Tez launches with support for many languages including English, Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Tamil, and Telugu. Up to 20 transactions can be completed in one day. Soon, the app will dominate the entire Asian countries. Tez is a new mobile payment made exclusively for India.

Tez is available from today on Google Play and the App Store. It works on majority of smartphones in India runnin both iOS and Android. Google Tez also asks for access to contacts and your friends, who are on the app will reflect in this.

Once the app gets installed, you have to launch it on your device. However, the Tez and Paytm are two very different apps.

This is all you have to do, you are on the home screen of this app. Other transactions require the receiver's phone number, QR code, or UPI ID. To authorize the payment, you will need to enter your UPI PIN. Just use Tez and if you win, your rewards go straight into your bank account. It also supports payments bank Airtel Payments Bank. The Google Tez is more like Apple Pay where the app links your phone with your bank accounts to let you use your phone as a way to deduct payments from those accounts.

For security, each transaction will need the UPI pin whereas to log in to the application one can secure it with Google PIN or a fingerprint.
