Now, the second ODI will be played in the city of Kolkata on September 21 at the iconic Eden Gardens.

However, Coulter-Nile's twin strikes (Jadhav and Kohli) in successive overs titled the balance in favour of Australia as thereafter India just seemed to have lost the plot. Also, this match is former India captain Dhoni's 300th ODI as playing for India (except World XI games). They took India to 239, adding 35 from 53 balls for the seventh wicket. However, Steven Smith's side failed to impress with the bat as only Apart from David Warner, Glenn Maxwell and James Faulkner scored double in double digits for the visitors.

The left-armer became the third man to get a hat-trick for India by dismissing Matthew Wade, Ashton Agar and Pat Cummins in consecutive balls in Thursday's second one-day global.

Heavy rain on Tuesday morning forced the Australians to train indoors while the Indian team, scheduled to train from late afternoon, cancelled their session as the entire ground remained covered throughout the day.

Collectively, Australia must get better against India after failing to last the distance with the ball, nor managing to establish a bridgehead with the bat, in Chennai on Sunday. With the Rohit Sharma- Eden Gardens love affair is well known, it won't be a surprise if he scores big in the match on Thursday.

The first ball in India vs Australia 2nd ODI match will be bowled at 13:30 hrs IST (08:00 GMT) on Thursday. He found an able ally in Ajinkya Rahane, who showcased restraint and good technique on his way to his 20th ODI fifty.

The Aussie skipper, however, has only one half-century - 56 against England at Birmingham in June - in his last five ODI innings. Rahane fell for a 64-ball 55.

Earlier, India's innings was built on captain Virat Kohli's sublime 92 and opener Ajinkya Rahane's 55.

They couldn't take too many risks, given their situation and the two-paced nature of the Eden Gardens surface, and Australia's seamers, varying their pace and denying the batsmen room, gave them little to work with.

The Indian captain looked set for his 31st ODI century before playing a Coulter-Nile delivery onto the stumps.

"(But) we knew if we had a good start, we had a chance".

Then Kane Richardson, replacing Coulter-Nile in the 40th over, dismissed MS Dhoni, who drove fractionally early and found short extra-cover.

The Indian team on the other end would expect some runs from their third openerAjinkya Rahane and would hope that their run machines-Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma come back to scoring ways.
