Other than becoming the first titleholder for her state, Mund would also like to become the North Dakota's first state governess. In an onstage interview, she said President Donald Trump was wrong to pull the United States out of the Paris climate accord. Mund defending her answer to reporters afterward saying, "Miss America needs to have an opinion and she needs to know what's happening in the current climate".

Hours after leading the Eagles to a season-opening 30-17 win over the Redskins, Carson Wentz had his name dropped by the newest Miss America.

Cara Mund has won the Miss America 2018 crown.

In one of her onstage interviews, Mund said Trump was wrong to withdraw the USA from the climate accord aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to global warming. "So whether you believe it or not, we need to be at that table".

The 2017 Miss America pageant was not so much about empowering women as it was bashing President Trump.

"It's important to have a woman's perspective", Cara told AP.

"I think that the white supremacist issue, it was very obvious it was a terrorist attack".

Approaching the water, she waded in with bare feet, then jumped and smiled for the cameras, checking each time to see if her crown was still on her head. I think the answer is to relocate them into museums, because we are truly defined by our country's history, and I don't think it's something we need to forget.

The Bismarck resident says that even though she doesn't agree with the president on this issue, it doesn't mean she won't support him. Miss North Dakota's compassionate attitude is reflected in her pageant platform: "A Make-A-Wish Passion with Fashion".

Mund bested a field of 51 competitors from each state and the District of Columbia during the weeklong of events.

Up first for the second question round was Miss Louisiana, followed by Miss New Jersey, Miss District of Columbia, Miss North Dakota, Miss Missouri, Miss Alabama and Miss Texas.

Fifty-one young women are in Atlantic City tonight for the 2018 Miss America Pageant.

And, the fourth runner-up who receives a $10,000 scholarship was Miss Texas. Mund took over the title from last year's victor, Miss Arkansas, Savvy Shields.
