New No.1 Test bowler crowned

The swing bowler produced something of a clinic as he took seven for 42 against West Indies - a haul that included his 500th Test wicket - in England's nine-wicket win at Lord's on Saturday that saw them to a 2-1 series victory.

England all-rounder Ben Stokes improved his position and achieved a career-best 20th position in the batting rankings and is placed 21st in the bowlers' list.

"We have played some brilliant cricket through this summer".

Anderson became the first England bowler to the landmark and just the sixth in history when, having started the West Indies' second innings with 499 Test wickets behind him, he clean bowled opener Kraigg Brathwaite. "We should not be afraid of going over there (to Australia), performing at our best and (trying to) do something special".

"Putting in his career-best figures shows he is still desperate to kick on and do more great things in this game", said Root. "I didn't think I'd play anywhere near as much for England".

"The control he has when the ball is doing a minimal amount, or when it is hooping around, is remarkable".

He then claimed two in three balls after lunch, including the key wicket of Shai Hope for 62 as West Indies' man-of-the-series was caught behind off an excellent leg-cutter.

"Breaking your shoulder is never easy but lots of hard rehab and a lot of hours of training got me back here and I'm proud of myself to be able to come back and still perform for the West Indies".

"Credit must go to James Anderson".

However, while Roach endured a gruelling road to recovery, he made his comeback and continued to be a regular face in the West Indies' Test squad. 'You've got to make the most of it when you are in rhythm, when you're not it can be a struggle'.
