3.6 million Playtex plates, bowls recalled for choking hazard

According to Health Canada, these kitchen staples pose a potential choking hazard because the clear plastic that covers the graphics can peel or bubble.

The Playtex brand plates and bowls were manufactured with colorful graphics such as giraffes, superheroes and princesses. Stores were the product is sold include Babies "R" Us, Target, Walmart, as well as online. They have also received 11 reports of that clear plastic ending up in the mouths of kids, as well as 4 reported choking cases.

The plates and bowls were sold separately, and together as a set.

The bowls and plates have a colored rim and a little rubber rim on the bottom to prevent it from slipping.

The bowls and plates were sold from October 2009 through August 2017, so if you've gotten hand-me-downs from friends and family, be sure to check them out too.

Anyone with the bowls is being asked to stop using them immediately and take them away from young children.

No other Playtex product is affected by this recall.

Anyone who has the product should return it for a refund. Consumers should contact Playtex for a full refund.

For more information, Canadians can visit Playtex's website, or call the company at 1-888-220-2075.
