A terrorist gunman opened fire on a crowd of 20,000 concertgoers this past Sunday night in Las Vegas, killing 59 and injuring over 500 more.

Officals briefed on the investigation still don't know the motive behind the Las Vegas shooting and are trying to figure out what the Boston and Chicago research was all about. But a source confirmed the details of TMZ's report with Chicagoist. He reportedly requested adjoining rooms, and asked that those rooms face Grant Park.

Lombardo said Paddock spent decades stockpiling guns and living a "secret life" that investigators may never be able to fully understand.

Investigators were looking into the possibility that Paddock planned additional attacks, including a auto bombing, a federal law enforcement officials said.

But that person never checked into the hotel, which overlooked the festival, WWM spokeswoman Emmy Carragher said.

The event included performances by Chance the Rapper, Muse, Lorde and Blink-182. Additionally, police are also said to have stumbled upon a mention about the Fenway Park in Boston.

While Clark County Sheriff Joseph Lombardo suggested that Paddock may have had a plan of escape following his assault, the federal official said the gunman had limited options, even though he had rigged surveillance cameras to monitor the outside hallway of his hotel room.

An FBI official in Las Vegas, meanwhile, said no one has been taken into custody. At around the same time, he bought a rifle at a different store in California. The guns traced back to dealers in Nevada, Utah and Texas.

In general, officials said some alerts are generated in cases like this, but there are tens of thousands of similar alerts every week. "We can affirm that a reservation was made under the name Stephen Paddock, however experts have not affirmed this is an indistinguishable individual from the Las Vegas shooter".

Several law enforcement sources told NBC that investigators are looking to speak to a woman who was seen with Paddock in his last days, when his girlfriend was out of the country.

Jihadi group Isis issued a statement claiming the attack in the wake of the shooting and released propaganda on Thursday claiming that Paddock had converted to Islam six months ago.

Las Vegas shooter Stephen Paddock is alleged to have booked two rooms at a Chicago hotel with a view of Lollapalooza in August, according to media citing police officials.
