Mourinho says Shaw still has future at Man United

Shearer believes that Pochettino's side could pick up victory over the Red Devils, but is expecting Jose Mourinho to employ tactics to frustrate the attacking threat of Spurs, who will be missing Harry Kane through injury.

Defending In Numbers is a new Deezer Originals football podcast, created by Squawka.

The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder was linked with a move to Manchester United this summer. "I don't think anyone is afraid to come and play us at Old Trafford. normally, we have good performances at home". And I think he really wants me to play under him again'.

"He needs two, three, four, five or six matches in a row to play, to make mistakes, to get condition, to get match fitness and I can not give him that".

Shaw's work-rate was criticised by Mourinho last term, but while the manager is unable to find a place in his team for the 22-year-old at present, he is open to him remaining at Old Trafford and has no issue with his praise of Pochettino.

"He used to call me his son, that's how good our relationship was".

'He made me feel that I was the best.

"Not in a terrible way".

The 27-year-old had established himself as one of the finest full-backs in the English top-flight over recent seasons, with his stellar showings before his injury last season having led to heavy links with Manchester United.

When asked whether Shaw has any future at the club, he responded: "Why not?"

Mourinho began his news conference: "Because I know the question I don't need the question, I'll answer".

Signed by Louis van Gaal in 2014, Shaw enjoyed a brief run of games starting for United before an ankle injury kept him out for a month and haltered his progress.

Mauricio Pochettino insists that there is no longer a rift between him and Jose Mourinho after accusing the Portuguese of deliberately "unsettling" one of his players.
