Nets' Jeremy Lin suffers knee injury: 'I'm done man, I'm done'

The 29-year-old quickly grabbed his right knee before grimacing in pain and collapsing to the court in tears.

Lin landed awkwardly on a drive to the basket in the fourth quarter of the Nets' 140-131 loss to the Pacers on Wednesday night, and his immediate emotional reaction seemed to indicate he feared a serious injury.

He was assisted to the locker room and was sent for evaluations on Thursday morning where the extent of the injury was truly learned.

He went on to play for the Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Lakers and Charlotte Hornets before signing a three-year, $36 million contract with Brooklyn last year. Lin, who missed 46 games last season, will be evaluated in NY on Friday.

The Nets will now likely slide D'Angelo Russell to his previous position at point guard, leaving Isaiah Whitehead and Spencer Dinwiddie as backups at the position. Russell's role at the 2 is expected to be filled by some combination of Caris LeVert or Sean Kilpatrick.

Lin, who was benched later in that breakout season after suffering a knee injury, left the Knicks a few months later after they refused to match a restricted offer sheet in free agency. But it only looks like more disappointment awaits a franchise that has won just 41 games over the past two seasons.
