Agreement reached with Congress, says Hardik

Bambhaniya's statement came after his meeting with Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee President Bharat Singh Solanki.

The polls will be conducted in Gujarat in two phases - December 9 and December 14. The details of the Congress' proposal to the PAAS is not yet out.

In the first list there are 23 candidates from the Patidar community, including both Congress as well as PAAS nominees.

On Saturday, PAAS had issued an ultimatum to the Congress to clear its stand on the quota demand and other issues after their meeting in Delhi could not materialise as Congress leaders were busy with the party high command to discuss the names of probable candidates. A day after Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray stood by Patidar leader Hardik Patel in the sex CD leak case, the Shiv Sena slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for resorting to "low level" politics in the run-up to the Gujarat Assembly elections.

Earlier in the month, the Congress had given three options to the Hardik Patel-led Patidar Anamat Sndolan Samiti (PASS) on how reservation will be provided to the Patidar community in educational institutions and government jobs. The results will be declared on December 18. The last date for filing nominations is November 21. Polling in the hilly state was held on November 9.

The BJP has already announced 106 candidates out of the total 182 seats in the two lists that have been released so far.

The first phase of the polls in Gujarat will cover 89 constituencies in 19 districts while the second phase will cover 93 constituencies spread across 14 districts.

Mr Patel had set the quota demand as a precondition for extending support to the Congress.

Summary: The party said the BJP allegedly leaked the sex CD of the leader because it could not counter him.

PAAS leaders Lalit Vasoya and Amit Thummar will contest from Dhoraji and Junagadh seats respectively.
