Jeff Bezos Is Now Allegedly Worth $100 Billion

Online purchases for the day are up 18.4 percent over past year, according to data from Adobe Analytics, and investors are betting the company will take an outsized share of online spending over the gifting season.

Business mogul Jeff Bezos' net worth jumped above $100 billion on Friday amid optimism for Amazon's Black Friday sales. Gates hit the $100 billion mark back in 1999, and Bezos is the first since then to duplicate the feat.

Bezos had the largest increase of anyone on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index this year with an overall increase of $32.6 billion, this week alone Amazon's share prices have increased by five percent.

In fact, the 62 year-old founder of Microsoft would would be worth more than $150 billion (£112.4bn) if he hadn't donated nearly $700 million (£524.91m) Microsoft Corp. shares and $2.9 billion (£2.17bn) of cash and other assets to charity since 1996. That put him ahead of Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, who had held the position since May 2013.

Jeff Bezos has a lot of XMAS cheer. because he just crossed the $100 BILLION mark thanks to Black Friday. However, on October 27, 2017, Bezos again surpassed Gates on the Forbes list as the richest person in the world. Unlike Gates, Bezos has given very little of his fortune to charity so far.

Amazon shares are up 58% this year, enough to enrich Bezos by about $34 billion.

By comparison, Bill Gates' current estimated net worth stands at a paltry $86.8 billion (£65.1bn).

He wrote: "I'm thinking I want much of my philanthropic activity to be helping people in the here and now - short term - at the intersection of urgent need and lasting impact".
