Kevin Spacey dropped from film after fresh sexual allegations

The trailer for "All The Money in the World", which tells the story of the kidnapping of Getty's 16-year-old grandson in Italy in 1973, shows Spacey as the fearsome patriarch who infamously refused to pay a ransom to secure the boy's release.

Given the state of the current environment and news, it's inspiring to see filmmakers fight for what is morally right, and the producers' support of Scott gives the movie a chance for a fair shake in the marketplace and potentially in awards season, which would not have happened had Spacey's scenes been left intact after the troubling allegations leveled against the actor.

Plummer is slated to replace Spacey as J. Paul Getty in Ridley Scott's film "All the Money in the World". That means Plummer must begin reshoots immediately.

According to the report, all of Spacey's scenes will be reshot, with co-stars Mark Wahlberg and Michelle Williams expected to participate. We'll keep you posted.

It is also thought that digital compositing could place Plummer into some existing shots.

That Scott and the All the Money in the World's producers are willing to go to such lengths to essentially erase Spacey's presence from the film speaks to how seriously Hollywood is taking the allegations of sexual assault that have been levied against him - or at least how desperate many people in the entertainment industry are to distance themselves from a man whose behavior was allegedly a longstanding open secret. The studio additionally pulled the film from what would have been an Oscar-bait slot at the American Film Institute's November film festival.

Former US TV news anchor Heather Unruh says her son was assaulted by the star after meeting him in a bar past year.

Spacey, who was 26 at the time, said: "I honestly do not remember the encounter, it would have been over 30 years ago".

The latest accusation against Spacey came Wednesday, when a former television news anchor accused him of sexually molesting her son previous year when he was 18.

After the allegations were levelled against Kevin Spacey, Netflix also cut ties with the actor.

Spacey's representatives say he is seeking unspecified treatment.
