Amazon Prime Video begins rolling out to the tvOS app store

Almost six months after Amazon and Apple apparently settled their differences and announced the Prime Video app was coming to Apple TV, the actual app has finally been released.

The Seattle-based web giant's popular streaming app made its debut on Apple's living room fixture on Wednesday, signaling a thaw in the testy relationship between the tech giants. But today, finally, after waiting for so long, have just installed Amazon Video on my Apple TV, so unless I'm dreaming, this is now a reality.

On top of this, in the U.S., the Apple TV app brings live sports to iPhone, iPad and Apple TV users. Amazon Prime Video is now integrated into the Apple TV menu and Prime Video titles can be discovered using the Siri-enabled voice remote. In case you didn't know - Amazon stopped selling the Apple TV on its website mainly due to the fact that it had no presence of Amazon Prime Video at all on Apple's TV platform. It's also fully compatible with the Apple TV 4K.

Amazon Prime Video is, at long last, available on Apple TV.

Non-Prime content, while searchable, cannot be bought through the app, but can be linked to your Amazon account for viewing through it.

Amazon Prime Video is a free perk for Prime subscribers, a membership which costs $79 CAD per year and includes free two-day shipping, Prime Music and more. Now, Amazon's Prime Video app is finally rolling out on the tvOS app store.

And, after Amazon's refusal to sell a number of Google device that could rival its own - including Google's Chromecast and the Home speaker - Google has retaliated by pulling YouTube from Amazon's devices.

"We are so pleased to welcome Amazon to Apple TV", Cook said on stage in June.

"We've been trying to reach agreement with Amazon to give consumers access to each other's products and services", a Google spokesperson said in a statement obtained by Engadget.
