Baptist and other well-known churches, including Beldih Church, Emanuel Baptist Church and St George Church, held mass prayer service between 7am and 8am. After the prayers were over, candies and gifts were distributed, particularly to children. Faithful from all over the country gathered in large numbers at Shrine Basilica of our Lady of Health in Vailankanni and also New Jerusalem Church at Tarangambadi, the oldest protestant church in Asia, and offered prayers. YSRCP president YS Jaganmohan Reddy, accompanied by his family members participated in the Christmas celebrations at CSI Church in Pulivendula in Kadapa district. "I came here to listen to the message of peace and love, and seek blessings just like on Eid", he said.

Midnight masses and carols in praise of Lord Jesus marked Christmas on Monday as the country got into a festive mood with people thronging markets donning Santa Claus caps and gospel bands enthralling the merry-makers. According to several media reports, mostly tourists, including foreigners, prayed inside the church in Gulmarg, gathering there despite the harsh cold and several feet of snow.

CM Chouhan has prayed to the Almighty for prosperity of the people and development of the state on the occasion of Christmas.

People were seen exchanging greetings and gifts in different parts of the State to celebrate the holy day.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished people on Christmas, saying, "We remember the noble teachings of Lord Christ". Hope for humanity, hope for peace, hope that the better angels of our nature will prevail over our darker instincts.

The Governor Kohli said that India has tradition to celebrate all the festivals with harmony and brotherhood.

Director General of Police SP Vaid expressed hope that the festival will bring joy and happiness among the people of the state, including to the police personnel.
