Conservatives want Dreamers attending the State of the Union arrested

There are 24 young unauthorized immigrants known as DREAMers who will attend President Trump's State of the Union address on Tuesday night at the invitation of senators and representatives.

"These are people who are in the country illegally and anyone conspiring with them to keep them here illegally, to invite them to a State of the Union address, Jeff Sessions should have them all arrested and I mean the congressmen".

"Of all the places where the Rule of Law needs to be enforced, it should be in the hallowed halls of Congress".

On Tuesday afternoon, Gosar tweeted that he had contacted US Capitol Police and US Attorney General Jeff Sessions to ask that they arrest any undocumented immigrants attending Trump's speech.

A Republican Congressman said he asked Capitol Police to arrest and deport unauthorized immigrants attending Tuesday's State of the Union address as guests.

Gosar's office was busy on Twitter, calling on officers to arrest "those using fraudulent social security numbers and identification to pass through security". And this aggressive approach to immigration reform could cause a party to lose votes in the midterm elections with the majority of Americans who are sympathetic to dreamers and their families.

Gosar has been in the news before, once suggesting that the deadly white nationalist and neo-Nazi rally last summer in Charlottesville, Virginia, was a false-flag operation cooked up by an "Obama sympathizer" and funded by George Soros, who Gosar said "turned in his own people to the Nazis", according to Vice News.

Today, Rep. Gosar's grandstanding took the form of ridiculous #SOTU demands that serve as a reminder that we need protection for DREAMers now!

It's unclear whether the Capitol Police would comply with Gosar's request.

"This is why we can't have nice things..."

"What he said is outside the circle of decency in terms of members of Congress", Rep. Nancy Pelosi, the House Democratic leader, told reporters.
