Four policemen killed in Sopore IED blast

Four policemen, including a junior officer, were killed in a deadly Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast inside a closed Gole market in north Kashmir's Sopore town, 50 kilometres from here, on Saturday around 9.30 am. Authorities had deployed a large number of forces in the market and other areas of Sopore in the wake of the protest shutdown. 3 shops were also destroyed in the massive explosion.

Pakistan based terror outfit JeM claimed the responsibility for the attack.

The blast occurred on a day when at least 57 civilians were shot dead in Sopore by the paramilitary Border Security Forces (BSF) twenty five years ago in 1993.
