Instagram's Feed Now Offers "Recommended" Posts

Instagram's Feed Now Offers

Instagram has been rolling out new features over the past months, with one of them being the ability to follow hashtags in the same way that users would when viewing accounts.

Instagram's feed will now show users recommended posts - a change that earlier this month was spotted while in testing, and has since quietly gone live.

Just over a week ago now, Instagram rolled out a new update that allowed for its users easily comment on videos/photos throughout their main feed.

This isn't the first time that recommended content has been pushed forward by the Facebook-owned company. Some users, as expected, are not happy about this addition to Instagram and have vented their thoughts on social media. The recommended posts from accounts that users aren't already following will appear in a user's normal Instagram feed.

Many new app companies are looking to include algorithms for informational sources. This is nearly the same as the new "Explore Feed" that was launched by Facebook.

The change comes shortly after another update also focused on broadening users' access to content beyond what's being posted to those accounts you explicitly follow. The idea was created to help users access updated stories and posts from interested events directly on their feed.

It follows the new feature of following hashtags which Instagram recently introduced. Although getting rid of "Recommended for you" isn't an option, temporarily disabling it is.

It's very hard though to see why this could be a problem for anyone.

The new capability doesn't take effect until after you've viewed all of the organic posts in your feed.

Instagram says the feature, which is available on both iOS and Android, is now rolling out.

The good news is that the "Recommended for You" section is not meant to displace the content you care about in favor of Instagram's own suggestions.
