Asia's one of the largest automobile event, auto expo 2018 has begun in Greater Noida on Wednesday.

The mobility solutions include the UDO, a stylish two-seater electric pod concept; the ATOM, an urban mobility solution; the Treo, a lithium-ion battery powered electric three-wheeler; the e2o NXT, a refreshed version of the e2oPlus hatchback; the eKUV100, India's first electric mini SUV; and the e-Cosmo, the company's new electric bus.

Of all the cars that are showcased at the Auto Expo every year, a few stand out and steal all the limelight of the show. "We are studying aspects of the electric vehicle ecosystem, to make the governme-nt's vision of electric mobility a reality", said Kenichi Ayuk-awa, MD and CEO, Maruti Suzuki.

Homegrown auto majors Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra are on par with their foreign counterparts in showcasing future mobility products at the Auto Expo.

"I am very happy to share that in line with the government's vision, we will launch our first electric vehicle in 2020 in India which will be locally manufactu-red".

Companies unveiled 65 new vehicles/concepts and launched 14 products across segments on the first day.

Hyundai Motor India, too, showcased electric and hybrid variants of its IONIQ sedan, which is being sold in many global markets.

Several auto executives, including from M&M and Honda Cars India, said the real game changer will be policy - whether the Centre brings out a new EV policy or retains the existing one. It also showcased the working model of a hybrid vehicle.

French automaker also showcased ZOE e-Sport Concept, its fully electric concept auto.

On the luxury front, German carmaker Mercedes-Benz displayed its Concept EQ, with the appearance of a sporty SUV, giving a preview of a new generation of vehicles with battery electric drives.

Maruti also showcased its Concept Future-S, a compact vehicle with an SUV stance. The model will compete against the and the Captur, and is expected to bridge the gap between the and the The company also has the Safari SUV in its line-up.

Currently, Lohia Auto manufactures electric and diesel vehicles comprising two and three wheelers.

Hero Electric also unveiled eight of its global products in India, at the expo and the company said it planned to launch these products in a phased manner.
