Manchester United's Jose Mourinho holds crisis talks with Paul Pogba

Mourinho was quick to play down rumors of unrest during his press conference ahead of United's FA Cup clash against Huddersfield.

Veteran Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick has got on to reveal the player he believes will replace him at Old Trafford once he exits the club in the summer of 2018.

"You don't need to come with 'we want to sell him, ' you don't need that, some people go in that direction, some of them I know for many, many years, and I know their surname is 'Liar, ' and that's not nice".

"I might say that when he gets back to training he needs to do a bit more practice on this or that".

"Some of you (the media) keep saying that we are going to buy that striker, that winger, that left winger, that right winger".

'I don't have to speak with you about my conversations with my players - it's my problem and the player's problem, ' said Mourinho, who had originally confirmed that Pogba would be playing this weekend's cup game. The majority of the things you can read and listen to - don't be nice, be objective and say lies. "I don't have to tell you anything about it", the Portuguese boss added. "I would like you to tell me which position Pogba played in against Newcastle".

Pogba's had his injury problems (thigh) this season, keeping him sidelined for almost two months.

Wagner was less enthusiastic about VAR even though it kept Huddersfield in the match before Lukaku, who gave United a third-minute lead, sealed their victory with another clinical finish following a defence-splitting pass by Alexis Sanchez.

"It's very unlucky for him, but he will come back fresh, mentally and physically as well, in two weeks and then he will help us". The objective of having a squad that is not so big is exactly to be open for this. These include a two-legged Champions League tie against Sevilla and league games with top four rivals Chelsea and Liverpool.

Mourinho is likely to name a strong line-up as he has done in previous rounds against lower-league opponents Derby and Yeovil, with the FA Cup United's best chance of silverware this year.

"Lets go step by step".

"We play with one six and two eights".

"Saturday, black or white".

"The important thing was that it didn't really matter because we won anyway". McTominay has been given a good amount of game time by Jose this term and has been praised for his qualities.
