NY Attorney General sues Harvey Weinstein, his company

Eric Schneiderman filed the civil rights suit against the Weinstein Company, claiming it repeatedly broke NY law by failing to protect its employees from pervasive sexual harassment, intimidation and discrimination.

The public discussion on sexual harassment and assault sparked by the allegations against Hollywood giant Harvey Weinstein has been chosen as the Canadian Press News Story of the Year, by reporters and editors across the country.

Any sale of the Weinstein company must ensure that victims would be compensated, he said.

The New York attorney general is objecting to the appointment of Weinstein Co. veteran David Glasser to be CEO of the company under new ownership.

Though she plans to change the name of the company, Contreras-Sweet intends to maintain the company's current operations, including keeping all 150 Weinstein Co. employees. "Every New Yorker has a right to a workplace free of sexual harassment, intimidation, and fear".

A third group were were forced to facilitate Weinstein's sexual conquests, and to follow through on HW's promise of employment opportunities to women who met with Weinstein's favor.

It accuses the company's board and executives of repeatedly failing to take adequate steps to protect staff or curb Weinstein's behaviour despite multiple complaints.

The office also said, "drivers in both New York City and Los Angeles were required to keep condoms and erectile dysfunction injections in the vehicle at all times, in order to provide them to (Weinstein) as needed".

The suit charges that the human resources department at the Weinstein Company was completely corrupt.
