Real Madrid to rival Man Utd for Tottenham contract rebel

Real Madrid to rival Man Utd for Tottenham contract rebel

Real Madrid have identified Tottenham Hotspur central defender Toby Alderweireld as one of their prime targets as they look to bolster their leaky backline.

The rumours surrounding Toby Alderweireld are growing more intense by the day, but he could be looking at a summer exit, according to the Guardian, and will not be short of suitors.

However, should Spurs cash-in this summer then the report says the English duo will face stiff competition as Real Madrid are also ready to join the race for Alderweireld's signature.

Some of the recent transfer speculation involving Chelsea...

Mauricio Pochettino insists he left the Belgian behind to work on his fitness, having only just returned from a three-month injury lay-off due to a hamstring problem.

Spurs have got a really sticky situation on their hands with Alderweireld and it appears as though the way Pochettino is managing his injury situation is not helping the club's case of keeping the Belgian in north London.

Chelsea are monitoring Luke Shaw's situation at Manchester United, the Daily Mirror claim.

Alderweireld's current Tottenham contract is set to expire in the summer of 2019, though his deal also contains an option for a further year.

The hefty wage packet reportedly being sought by Alderweireld in North London would no doubt prove easier to come by at the Bernabeu, with Real, along with Manchester United, now viewed as the leading contenders for the Tottenham star's signature.

Alderweireld has a reported £25million release clause activated next summer, as long as the deal is completed two weeks before of the end of the window.
