Warrant: Man in fatal shooting might have targeted YouTube stars

The couple called 911 and reported that someone broke into their home and was roaming around the residence. Giles died at the scene, and although the Albuquerque search warrant says his injury may have been self-inflicted, an official ruling has not been made.

Armed with the warrant, police searched Giles' house on January 29 and seized two cellphones, a laptop, two tablets and an Xbox gaming system, Albuquerque court documents show.

Throughout the investigation, Austin Police Department detectives found chilling evidence about what Giles might have been up to. He fired a gun both inside and outside the home while the couple hid in a closet, but Free and Turney were not injured, Austin police have said.

TEXAS police have said a "disturbed fan" broke into the home of a YouTube celebrity couple armed with a gun and fired at least one shot inside the home. Surveillance video showed Giles enter the home, and "based on the footage seen, it was apparent that Giles' sole intent was to cause harm to someone who resides there", the search warrant continued.

Meg also thanks the Austin Police "for their quick response" and "ongoing support during this hard time".

Her British boyfriend, 29, co-hosts a YouTube video series of slow-motion videos entitled The Slow Mo Guys.

According to police, one officer returned fire. And his phone was full of notes suggesting he had "developed a fondness" for the woman, Megan Turney, and a dislike of her boyfriend, Gavin Free. A gun was allegedly fired from Giles' vehicle, leading to officers returning fire. They also said nothing had been stolen from the property.

A search of Giles's home led to further evidence of his lonely, isolated existence, most of which was spent playing video-games and watching YouTube videos related to the same.

"Hey everyone. I just wanted to say thanks for all the support and concern regarding the recent incident, ' he tweeted on Monday".

"Thank y'all so, so much for each and every kind message today and a special thank you to the @Austin_Police for their quick response that night and their ongoing support during this hard time". "It's been a rough time for Meg and myself the last few weeks but we are doing OK".

A search warrant was served on Giles's apartment a couple of days after the incident occurred.
