Apple to Offer 'Creative New Ideas' for Educators at Surprise Chicago Event

Could Apple be launching a new version of its Apple Pencil stylus?

In recent months, Apple and Tim Cook have been pushing the company's education agenda hard with a series of teaching and training events taking place at Apple stores globally.

Though Apple does not go into detail about the event, it could be tied to a recently announced partnership with the Chicago Public Schools and the City Colleges of Chicago.

The world seems to love a big Apple event, so mark your cards for March 27, which is when the next one is happening. Gossip says Apple might be about to reveal a new 9.7-inch iPad for a special education price of $259. We've seen plenty of rumors about a new iPad and iPhone, including regulatory filings for a new iPad. Last year, Apple used WWDC to debut ARKit. Some analysts believe an updated MacBook Air may also include a more affordable price-between $799 and $899-and Apple could spin it as a lower-cost, educational device for high school and college-aged students.

Apple typically holds its Summer event, called the Worldwide Developer Conference, reserved for software in June/July, ahead of an Autumn event in September, reserved for hardware.
