Jim Carrey faces Twitter backlash for 'monstrous' portrait of White House spokesperson

Rather, he described the image as "a so-called Christian whose only objective in life is to lie for the wicked".

Actor Jim Carrey released his latest political portrait triggering a backlash on social media.

While his art isn't always all that coherent or explicit (Carrey himself isn't always that coherent), his latest work is nearly certainly White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders. The portrait's uncanny resemblance to 35-year-old Sanders, however, was enough to cause speculation.

Taking a play out of President Donald Trump's Twitter playbook, Carrey ended the statement with a final one-word description, "Monstrous!"

Carrey spoke about his love of painting in the 2017 docco I Needed Color, revealing that he'd always loved to draw but turned to the brush after a breakup, most likely the end of his five year relationship with model and actress Jenny McCarthy, which ended in 2010. Some people took to Twitter to question the actor's relevancy and saying he hasn't made a good film in years. In his new "The Wicked Witch of the West Wing and Putin's Flying Monkeys", Carrey amalgamates Trump (who he's referred to as "Chief Little Hands" in other works) and The Wizard of Oz's Wicked Witch of the West into a new, chilling figure.

In February, Jim Carrey painted a picture of Marco Rubio with blood on his hands.

Carrey frequently shares his politically minded art on Twitter, and has created works inspired by various White House scandals in the past, including Trump's hiring of accused wife-beater Rob Porter, and his decision to golf in the aftermath of the Parkland, Fla., school shooting.

Sanders' father, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee (R), tore into Carrey for his post, calling him a "Christaphobe". You are all that is!
