Salah: Liverpool can win Prem next season

Jurgen Klopp agreed with suggestions Mohamed Salah could soon be considered one of the best players in the world, but the Liverpool manager feels comparisons with Lionel Messi will not help the forward.

After scoring his second of the match against Watford on Saturday, Salah surpassed Fernando Torres' record for the most goals netted in a debut season for Liverpool.

Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah were once again on the same wavelength on Saturday as Liverpool beat Watford 5-0.

The Egypt global moved to 28 league goals, four goals clear of Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane in the race for the Golden Boot.

Salah, whose Liverpool host City at Anfield on April 4 before travelling to Manchester for the return leg six days later, added: "There are many big clubs still in the competition but you have to remember Liverpool are a great club in Europe too". I don't think that Mo or anybody else wants to be compared with Lionel Messi. The last player I know who had the same influence on a team performance was Diego Maradona.

"His consistency is good for us". Also I think you've got to go out to him quicker, don't let him build up a pace to turn you inside out at that pace.

"We had to cope and deal with hard conditions tonight".

It took just four minutes for Salah to open the scoring against Watford, jinking his way through the Hornets' defence and leaving Miguel Britos on the floor before firing home.

Even Salah's first goal had a touch of Messi to it.

Premier League defenders are finding it impossible to stop the 25-year-old, but former Premier League defender Campbell thinks he has the answer.

Said the former Arsenal centre back: "He is causing carnage for defenders - the way he runs with the ball is so calm, defenders are falling over in front of him".

Salah, though, remains modest as ever, thanking his teammates for his wonderful start to life at Merseyside.
