Browns select Miami DE Chad Thomas in 3rd round

The Cleveland Browns passed on Saquon Barkley with the first pick in the NFL Draft, but wasted no time in picking a running back in round two as they selected Nick Chubb.

Sure enough, that's exactly what hapened and Goldhammer says he'll live up to his promise. There wasn't much debate, he was the consensus top cornerback in this year's class, and he adds to a position of need for the Cleveland Browns, who have remade their secondary this offseason.

The Cleveland Browns passed on a chance at Saquon Barkley in the first round of the National Football League draft.

Newly minted Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield, the reigning Heisman Trophy victor and a bona fide disruptor of defenses across America, was one also part of a wrecking crew offense with the bat.

"I've been a big fan of Chubb for a long time".

He became a starter for the Miami Hurricanes his sophomore year and had a break-out season the following year. While it may turn out that the undersized but feisty and supremely accurate Mayfield's skill set fits perfectly into the NFL game but new general manager John Dorsey was touted as a football man and therefore would have been expected to play it safe.

"Johnny and I are two completely different people", Mayfield said on a conference call from his home in Austin, Texas. After his injury, though, he's a very good back. "He's been up front and honest about messing with me about my mistakes and I've been honest with him about what I learned from it, the fact that it shoudln't have happened". It was the second pick for the Browns in the the round and their fourth overall.

Best bit of production: ESPN's little animation showing the Browns going through 28 starting quarterbacks since 1999 was a hoot.

Mayfield, who went 33-6 in games he started (he sat out the first quarter of his final game with a suspension) is the fifth quarterback taken in the first round by the Browns in their expansion era - and first since Manziel. I like the guy.

"I have learned from my mistakes".

With the first pick of the third round, the 65th overall pick, the Oakland Raiders chose Brandon Parker, an offensive tackle from N.C. A&T State.

"I'm excited, you know, I said at the combine that I'd love to be that guy to help turn them around and I think if anybody's gonna do it, it's gonna be me".
