IPL 2018, RCB vs CSK: 5 reasons why Bangalore lost

IPL 2018, RCB vs CSK: 5 reasons why Bangalore lost

The win took Chennai to 10 points from six games and put them ahead of Kings XI Punjab on net run-rate.

However, the visitors bounced right back into the game as Dwayne Bravo removed Quinton de Kock for 53. At this juncture, CSK needed 31 runs off 13 balls. Against a power-packed CSK batting, RCB must tighten-up their bowling having conceded 200 plus runs twice at home.

Virat Kohli's RCB side posted 205-8 from their 20 overs, thanks in main to AB de Villiers' 68 from 30 balls, which contained eight sixes and two fours. The second wicket maiden over of the night for CSK.

There are some big names like Kohli, Abraham De Villiers, Mandeep Singh, Quinton D. Cock and Brendon McCullum in Bangalore, but none of these batsmen, except Kohli, have been performing according to their fame. "We have a team of match-winners and it is up to us to share the load", the South African batsman added.

RCB made a rapid start to their innings before skipper Virat Kohli (18) was the first one to be dismissed by Shardul Thakur (2 for 46).

Their opponents at M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday, however, have had different match-winners in their four wins so far. For RCB, Pawan Negi and Colin de Grandhomme replaced Manan Vohra and Chris Woakes respectively.

De Villiers smashed Thakur for three consecutive sixes to bring the home crowd to its feet, even as de Kock played the supporting role to perfection.

Skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni displayed his batting prowess yet again as he helped Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to beat Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by five wickets in a high-scoring thriller at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium here on Wednesday. RCB have never won the IPL despite making the final on three occasions, but, still start the season as one of the favorites owing to the presence of Kohli and de Villiers. Though none of his knocks proved to be helpful to RCB in winning the matches, his knocks have proved to be crucial in RCB's overall performances.

The same happened to Virat Kohli after the third six which went over wide long-off as he got off his seat in awe of the Superman in the middle who was tearing apart the bowling attack. The Bengaluru franchise will hope to continue their good show, despite a dominant CSK team. In the match, besides the obvious shuffle in the IPL 2018 points table, there was a new owner of the Orange cap.

The Match will commence at 8:00 PM IST.

With Star India now acquiring the media rights from Sony Pictures Network India for the upcoming season, the matches will be telecast on various Star Sports channels.
