Katy Perry's Parents Went on 'American Idol' & Roasted Her

When Ryan asks if Katy has always been mouthy, her dad simply replies 'yeah!' and before he gets a chance to say where she gets it from, ever chatty Katy interjects with: "YOU GUYS!" Richie said. "You're rising to the occasion".

Gabby Barrett teamed up with recently reunited superstar country duo Sugarland to sing their hit "Stay", and Gabby was pure perfection harmonizing with Sugarland's Jennifer Nettles. Katy Perry credited that the selection was the "perfect song", and Luke Bryan added that the singer had "all the tools".

Catie Turner left an impression on Sunday night's episode of American Idol when she sang "Call Me" by Blondie.

Michelle Sussett opted to sing a song that is not very upbeat. He took a risk by not following Bones' advice, and it paid off.

This Sunday night on ABC at 8 p.m. ET, the other 12 contestants will perform solo, and next Monday night, also at 8 p.m. ET on ABC, they'll perform duets with Rachel Platten, Bebe Rexha, Lea Michele, British singer/songwriter Banners, Colbie Caillat, Allen Stone and country star CAM.

Rihanna's "Love On the Brain" was Kay Kay's choice for solo, while she and Train frontman Pat Monahan performed "Drive By" by Train for the duet portion. In June 2017, Katy opened up in a Today show interview about her relationship with her parents, commenting that "My parents are great and I love them so much". Bryan said he felt like a fan, and Richie said their voices blended perfectly together. The song choice suited Brenns' tone, even though it isn't the most dynamic song vocally. They gave a stripped-down performance that really let Lorenzo show off his voice, which sounded especially strong in his falsetto. Bryan said he keeps showing so many new things in his arsenal.

Michael J. Woodard holds his own alongside Pat while performing "Angel In Blue Jeans". "I don't think we've seen anyone tonight nail it from top to bottom like that", noted Luke.

With the performances done, it was time for the judges to announce which seven artists would be advancing to the next round to sing for America's vote. The first person to make it through is Cade, followed by Michelle, Dennis, Gabby, Jonny, Michael, and Catie. He was selected for the Top 50 and then made it into the Top 24 with a performance of Kaleo's "No Good".
