League Veteran Andre Ingram Drops 19 in NBA Debut

The 32-year-old guard made his National Basketball Association debut with the Lakers after playing in the D League/G League for 10 seasons, and he scored 19 points and knocked down four three-pointers.

The American University graduate who holds a degree in physics was all set to head back home to his family after the season ended for the South Bay Lakers.

"Everyone was like, "Man, when you get it, just let it go, '" Ingram said after the Lakers" 105-99 loss to the Houston Rockets, according to ESPN's Ohm Youngmisuk. Coming off the bench late in the first quarter, Ingram put on a clinic scoring 19 points in his debut.

He even showed a little off-the-dribble pizzazz, evading a closeout and then hitting a pull-up jumper while getting fouled. "MVP chants, that's merely insane".

"My story is endurance, the full story of it is", Ingram told the TNT crew after the game.

"It was open arms from everyone: all the teammates, all the coaches", Ingram said, per Lakers.com. But I didn't want to try to. As quickly as we went out as a workers for warmups, I merely felt some electrical power in the marketplace.

"When he said he was being called up to the Lakers, I literally lost it, and started screaming", his wife Marilee said.

Players from around the league were inspired by Ingram's debut. Lopez said: "To play the way he played, that's the stuff that dreams are made of".

"You do not make lot of money in the minor league system, playing insane schedules, in small towns, constantly waiting for others to think you are good enough".

"When Rob and Magic walked in, all the emotions you could think, I was like, 'This could be it.' I hadn't checked out mentally yet because I don't do that until I get home".

The 32-year-old has also scored the fifth-most points in league history (3,901) and won the 3-Point Contest in 2010 and 2016.

An NBA contract eluded Ingram as he showed some serious potential during his G-League tenure.

After the game, Ingram was of course the star of the Lakers' locker room.
