Mourinho admits he does know why Pogba has under-performed this season

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has revealed that he has no plans to sign another striker this summer to replace the recently departed Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Mourinho said that the reporters would have to ask Pogba himself to find out.

The striker last played for United on December 26, coming on as a second-half substitute in a Premier League match against Burnley.

According to him, the problem isn't because of Pogba's hamstring injury.

'Despite this, last season we managed to win two major trophies, including the only competition this club had never won - the Europa League - and we also returned to the Champions League.

The £75m striker is back in form and scored over the global break for Belgium too.

Mourinho is delighted to see the 24-year-old performing at the peak of his powers, but believes he will get even better as he continues to experience life at the very top. "I can not do anything else".

And Mourinho had nothing but good things to say about the veteran striker after he called time on his spell at Old Trafford under the Portuguese boss.

However Pogba looked a different player when he scored a stunning free-kick, and provided an assist in the midweek when France defeated World Cup hosts Russian Federation by 3-1 at Saint Petersburg.

The Swede struggled on his return to first-team action after the first long-term injury of his career, and although he rarely featured this year, his departure leaves United effectively one striker down.

Pogba will be hoping for his first start in nearly a month at home to Swansea today and Luke Shaw could also be in the line-up after Ashley Young suffered a slight knee injury on England duty.

As per the report, the former Southampton defender reacted to Mourinho's decision by saying: 'Why are you always picking on me?' If I want to change the player in minute five, I change the player in minute five.

'The moment when a new rule comes that forbids managers to do that, then I become a pundit, not a manager'.
