Neymar Provides Injury Update, Hopes To Fulfill Brazil World Cup Dream

Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar Jr is confident he will return to action ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

The Brazil global, who joined the club last summer for a €222 million world-record fee from Barcelona, was not present as PSG dispatched their nearest rivals with clinical efficiency, winning the Ligue 1 title in the process.

Asked about players who could have a great World Cup - aside from himself, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo - Neymar did not single out any of his PSG teammates.

Life in Paris started well for the Brazilian, scoring for fun on the pitch, but it wasn't long before rumours of frustration with the standard of football and talk of fallouts with his team mates dominated the news headlines.

Neymar had a subsequent operation on the injury and has been recuperating in Brazil ever since.

In his absence, PSG were knocked out of the Champions League by Real Madrid in the last 16 in March.

"There is still a month left, but I am recovering well", Neymar said.

Considering that Neymar is still just 26 and several other key members of Brazil's new-look outfit - Philippe Coutinho, Gabriel Jesus, Casemiro et al - hover around the same age or are even younger, one would imagine that there may be further rolls of the dice for the former Barcelona man even if the national team falls short in Russian Federation this year. Newcastle won the match 3-2.

"How can Neymar not be there for the title game?"

"How can PSG accept something like that?" How can he look his teammates in the eye when he behaves that way?

"He's spitting on the club". I think it's barbaric. If he were at Barca, he would have returned without any problem.

"We are especially looking forward to enjoying the atmosphere at Anfield, where Croatia has never played before - it's a historic venue and I am convinced that our players will enjoy this match, along with our fans and all spectators".

Dugarry also suggested that he can not stand players who only play for themselves and felt that PSG need stronger mentality who will play for the club emblem.
