No April Fools Here: Tony Ferguson Out of UFC 223

And upon hearing that Ferguson was withdrawing through injury from his lightweight title fight with Nurmagomedov at UFC 233 in Brooklyn, McGregor took aim on Twitter. How would Max make it to 155 on just six days notice? But I still want this fight. "I even talked about it happening but when it got like three to four weeks out, I just said 'F**k it, these guys are gonna fight".

Interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson had to withdraw from his bout with Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 223 and the reason is nearly unbelievable.

The main card will air on pay-per-view at 10 p.m. ET while the preliminary card will air on FOX Sports 1 at 8 p.m. ET and the promotion's streaming service, UFC Fight Pass, at 6 p.m. ET.

The correct take going into this Saturday night in Brooklyn, New York is to have Max Holloway body Nurmagomedov on the feet, force the Russian to go for a exhausted takedown attempt and then have Blessed tap out his opponent with a rear naked choke. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.

On his "Believe You Me" podcast, Bisping said that he told the organization that he is interested in being on the card and that he's asked them to come back to him with some potential opponents.

Should Holloway win, he will become only the second fighter in UFC history to win a title in two different weight classes simultaneously, a feat that McGregor accomplished when he defeated Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205 in November, 2016.

But a freak accident saw Khabib and Ferguson fall through for the fourth time, as the latter tore ligaments in his knee while performing promotional duties.

The pair were due to fight for the real lightweight belt, which Conor McGregor is now in possession of. But they called me and said Max Holloway.

Nurmagomedov is confident of getting the win against Holloway and then he would like to fight UFC legend Georges St. Pierre. We're in the "Blessed Era" as Holloway likes to say, and it's time to embrace it.

Holloway, 19-3, has not lost a fight since 2013 when McGregor beat him by decision.

McGregor is pencilled in for a return to UFC in September, after last year's blockbuster boxing match against Floyd Mayweather.

Ferguson and Nurmagomedov were originally set to face each other at The Ultimate Fighter 22 Finale in December 2015, but a rib injury to the Russian forced him out of the contest. Not only did he miss two full years due to a knee injury between 2014 and 2016, he withdrew from his third attempt at facing Ferguson last March for the interim 155-pound title after being hospitalized for a hard weight cut.
