Nobel Prize for Trump? Some See a Path

How many presidents have won a Nobel Peace Prize?

President Donald Trump held a rally in MI on Saturday at the same time as the White House Correspondents' Dinner.

United States President Donald Trump on Saturday (local time) suggested that a meeting between the USA and North Korea is likely possible in "three or four weeks".

But today's historic North/South Korea breakthrough does not happen without priority & pressure from US President.

While it remains unknown if Trump will be awarded a Nobel Peace Prize, four of his predecessors have been honored with the distinction, including: Barack Obama, Jimmy Carter, Woodrow Wilson and Theodore Roosevelt. He is now backed by even Trump critics within the GOP, notably Senator Lindsey Graham, who once called Trump "crazy" and said he was "unfit for office".

The audience wanted the president to be given the Nobel Peace Prize for his negotiations with North Korea.

Trump also said that the world went from having a potential disaster, but the Olympics and North Korea's participation helped to turn things around, according to the reports.

Revealing the pledge, South Korea announced Kim Jong Un said Donald Trump will get to know the North Korean leader is "not a person" to aim missiles at US.

This was the first time a North Korean leader has crossed the border since the Korean War. The previous two summits were held in 2000 and 2007 in Pyongyang.

However, should a peace treaty be drawn up and agreed to by all parties, it would end an ongoing war between North and South Korea that - although fighting ceased in the 1950s - has been left unresolved for decades.

The Korean War between the two countries took place between 1950-53, which ended with a ceasefire and signing of an armistice agreement.

It's important to note that while the two Koreas are in talks, an official peace treaty has yet to be signed and would likely require the cooperation of both the USA and Chinese governments, as well as backing from the United Nations.

In a joint declaration after the talks, the two leaders officially inaugurated a document formally called the 'Panmunjom Declaration for Peace, Prosperity and Unification on the Korean Peninsula.

Many countries such as China, Russia and Japan and the United Nations (UN) have praised the outcome and positivity of the successful summit.
