Zlatan Ibrahimovic's World Cup return ruled out by Sweden

Zlatan Ibrahimovic's World Cup return ruled out by Sweden

Los Angeles Galaxy striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is not available for selection for Sweden's World Cup campaign, the nation's FA chief Lars Richt clarifies.

Despite being 36 years old, Ibrahimovic is still far and away Sweden's best player and most important guy in attack.

Zlatan who is now on global retirement had hinted recently that he would play for Sweden during World cup but this may not be possible as the star has announced he is set to become an ambassador for a gambling company called Bethard.

The 36-year-old striker, who recently left Manchester United to join LA Galaxy, had hinted that he might resume his 116-cap career with Sweden, having retired from global duty two years ago. "He announced that he did not change the national team game - it is no", he said via the Swedish FA's official website. He said he has not changed his decision regarding playing in the national team.

Sweden's unexpected qualification for the finals at the expense of Italy, however, has prompted speculation surrounding a potential return to the national side for Zlatan.

Coach of Sweden's national team Janne Andersson has been coolly indifferent.

"I spoke with Zlatan on Tuesday".

"[Ibrahimovic] has not said to me yet that he wants to play", Andersson told Bild am Sonntag. I am a bit moved but obviously very happy with the result.
