Five-star 2018 SG Romeo Langford picks Indiana

Five-star 2018 SG Romeo Langford picks Indiana

He announced his destination in front of a crowd of hundreds at the New Albany High School gym Monday evening.

The highly coveted recruit picked the Hoosiers over other finalists Kansas and Vanderbilt.

"Hey, Romeo Langford: I respect & understand your decision to stay in state and play for Indiana".

The recruitment of five-star guard Romeo Langford ended right where most people expected it would - with the star of the Hoosier State signing with the Hoosiers.

Several speakers took to the podium before Langford's announcement, including Romeo's father Tim, New Albany athletic director Don Unruh and New Albany Coach Jim Shannon.

Langford's decision leaves KU with one open scholarship still to hand out before the 2018-19 season arrives and, according to ESPN's Jeff Goodman, the Jayhawks will host Albany graduate transfer Joe Cremo for an official visit this weekend.

Langford finished his career with 3,002 points - fourth-most in state history - and the Bulldogs went 100-10 in his four years, winning four sectional titles, two regionals and the 2016 Class 4A state championship (New Albany's second title).

Named to the McDonald's all-American team, Langford was considered a consensus five-star recruit as well as the No. 6 overall player in the 2018 recruiting class.

247Sports' Crystal Ball, which compiles recruiting predictions from various analysts and reporters, had IU with an 84% chance to land Langford as of Monday afternoon.

5-Star Vanderbilt commit Darius Garland was happy for his bro.
