Fox renews 'Lethal Weapon,' replaces star with Seann William Scott

'Riggs was a dream role and the experience will live with me forever.

Studio Warner Bros. issued a statement declaring Crawford's contract was not picked up for the third season.

Lethal Weapon has gone from being in serious jeopardy to scoring a surprise season three renewal thanks to a shrewd re-casting.

Besides "American Pie", Scott's credits include "Road Trip", "Role Models", "The Dukes of Hazzard", "The Rundown" and "Dude, Where's My Car?".

According to a press release from Fox, the network's TV reboot of the Mel Gibson-Danny Glover buddy-cop film franchise has been renewed for a third season, with the "American Pie" alum added to the cast to replace Clayne Crawford, who was sacked from the show over unspecified abusive behaviour on the set. The third season will get underway later this year.

Fox has chose to bring back Lethal Weapon, but not its star.

Seann William Scott, best known for playing the randy Stifler in the 1999 comedy "American Pie", will replace Clayne Crawford as Damon Wayans' co-star on Fox's "Lethal Weapon". Crawford's behavior has led to other actors feeling uncomfortable with him continuing in the role. Another said, "That no official words have been spoken, just rumors spread by the tabloids".

Fox Renews "Lethal Weapon" for season 3, but there's a controversial cast change in the works that has some fans seeing red.

"Lethal Weapon" is based on the feature film franchise of the same name. Crawford had to apologize for those two specific incidents, with the actor reportedly completing studio-appointed therapy. The second incident occurred during an episode Crawford was directing when another actor on set felt unsafe after being hit by a piece of shrapnel from an effect. Sources have told EW that the decision was a hard one and was due to Crawford exhibiting a pattern of toxic behavior on the set and that there is video and audio evidence of such behavior.

"Lethal Weapon" viewers can say goodbye to Clayne Crawford and hello to Seann William Scott! "When everyone seems to know your future but you. Fox and Warner Bros TV declined comment". I hope I'm not fired!
