Jose Mourinho 'Not Sure' All Manchester United Players Upset by Brighton Loss

United fans were left furious with the result and took to social media to vent their frustrations towards their team of superstars, with one man feeling the wrath of the supporters. I know we can do it, we only have two matches to get the four points we need. Seven minutes later, the first goal of the match was scored, but probably not in the direction you would have expected.

Manchester United: David de Gea 7, Matteo Darmian 5, Chris Smalling 6, Marcos Rojo 5, Ashley Young 6, Marouane Fellaini 5, Nemanja Matic 6, Paul Pogba 6, Juan Mata 6, Marcus Rashford 5, Anthony Martial 5.

In his furious rant about squandered chances, Mourinho indirectly explained to the media why he always starts Lukaku ahead of Martial and Rashford.

But against his former club, Lingard fired wide to condemn United to a seventh Premier League defeat of the season.

Defeat in the Reds' first ever visit to the Amex Stadium was inflicted by Pascal Gross's header in the 57th minute, as the hosts secured a second successive season in the top flight.

"I wouldn't say disappointed because I know [the players]", Mourinho added. Why always Lukaku? You have the answer.

"Not good enough. The players that replaced others, they didn't perform", the United manager told Sky Sports. "Maybe now you understand why some players play more than others and you don't ask why A, B or C don't play more". It's not good enough.

They'll also finish a distant second in the Premier League behind rivals Manchester City but can still grab a major trophy in the FA Cup on May 19.

United arrived on the south coast knowing a win would all but seal second place for them, but a desperate disappointing display means they will have to wait to secure the runners-up spot.

"For me, it is important, but for some of my players, it doesn't look like it's very important [finishing second]".

"We want to win and we think that this is the best team", The Mirror quotes Mourinho as saying.

United would have a real chance of their own soon after, when Rashford robbed a Brighton defender in the box but despite having Martial alongside him, dallied instead of squaring and the chance went up in smoke.
